FROME FALCONS POWERCHAIR FOOTBALL CLUB
CLUB BACKGROUND
Frome Falcons Powerchair Football Club was set up in April 2018 by Nova Sports following hugely successful taster sessions. With help from the local community, fortnightly sessions were ran, the equipment was bought and two teams were created. Weekly training currently takes place at Frome Sport and Fitness Centre, Princess Anne Road, Frome. The club is the only one in the whole of Somerset!
Following its success, a parent-led committee was established and the club became its own charity in March 2022 (Charity Number: 1198248)! Nova Sports still help with some of the training sessions as well as assisting the club at competitions in the South West League.
Powerchair football is played in electric sports wheelchairs with bumpers on the front of them. Games are played 4 v 4 on a basketball court, are 40 minutes long, and there are currently around 100 clubs in the U.K.
Since there is no advantage given for size or age, participants as young as 7 can play competitively with 70 year olds! It is also a mixed gender sport and the club caters for everyone from beginners to more experienced players.
Please note:
All chairs to play the sport are supplied by Frome Falcons PFC.
The club welcomes beginners to the sport as well as those new to using a powerchair in general.
There are three accessible entrances to the sports hall as well as disabled parking.
The club helps support players and families with membership costs where needed. Please get in touch if affordability of sessions is something we can help you with.
